On Saturday, 20 April 2024, to mark Earth Day, a ceremony was held to present certificates to the best young Eco-Reporters. The pupils and their mentors were welcomed by Saša Karajović, Executive Director of EKOM, and Raba Hodžić, Director of the Bureau for Education Services.
Those present were also addressed by Tamara Brajović, Director of the Directorate for Nature Protection at the Ministry of Tourism, Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Region Development.
The competition received 230 entries from 12 secondary and 26 primary schools in 14 towns across Montenegro. A national jury of thirteen members assessed the 95 selected entries and chose the best in twelve thematic categories.
We are proud to report that first place in the Eco-Article category (ages 11–14) went to Filip Mićunović of class VIIa for his work „Efektivno oživljavanje” (mentor: Dragica Vukčević, teacher of biology).
Taking into account its subject, how fully it met the criteria and the age of its author, the jury judged his work worthy of representing our school and Montenegro at the international competition “YOUNG REPORTERS FOR THE ENVIRONMENT 2024”. The entry will be sent to Copenhagen for judging during May, and the winners are expected to be announced in the second half of June this year.
